The SIU Carbondale SQL Users Group is a collection of individuals with various technical and functional backgrounds from Southern Illinois University Carbondale coming together to share information, learn new techniques, and assist each other with their endeavor to extract data from the University’s Administrative Information System using Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.

GOLDEN
Golden www.benthicsoftware.com/products.htm#golden is an inexpensive ad hoc reporting tool used to run SQL scripts. It allows the user to export the output from a script to MS Excel with minimal technical knowledge. It is a very good program for the beginner to intermediate user. Each university department is responsible for their own purchase and licensing of Golden.
TOAD
Toad www.quest.com/toad is a highly complex tool. It can do everything that Golden will do along with many DBA (Database Administrator) functions that would never be used by the average user. It is for the high-end user or Oracle DBA. Each university department is responsible for their own purchase and licensing of Toad.
